Who is Omar Saenz?
As officially the new Director of Tourism for Puerto Peñasco, Omar Saenz brings history into his new calling. He is a longtime resident who has been working for years as a developer. In earlier helping the municipal government, Mr. Saenz was responsible for heading up the Oomapas Water Utility in town.
In 2022, Mayor Jorge Pivac asked Omar to drive Rocky Point tourism efforts. The vision these two friends are sharing is not just about bringing more people into town. It is because they are focusing on creating better experiences in dealing with the city and the services it provides. This is true whether you are visiting as a tourist, or running a business within the city limits.
This knowledge is good to have whether you just like knowing what the city is trying to get done, and what its leaders are thinking and prioritizing. All you have to do is give this a chance by listening. And once you do, that same request is made in asking for giving the city a chance. This also means offering a little bit of time and patience.
Yes Puerto Peñasco is still known by many as a fishing village. Life on the northern shores of the Sea of Cortez makes it possible. And of course great opportunities for fishing and shrimping success happen daily. But the gifts from the sea would not mean as much if people weren’t taking the bait and coming to visit.
